Near Diamond Creek Road

Man, it’s good to be back in Kansas. The woodsy-ness of North Carolina is rich and pretty, but it wasn’t long before I was craving the open horizons and grasslands of Kansas.

On the west side of Diamond Creek Road, near the exit from Hwy 50 in Chase County, a gravel road dips toward the creek and crosses a stone arch bridge. This photo was taken from that area. The old bridge itself isn’t that attractive, and it has deteriorated to such a state that there is talk of demolishing it. We always hate to lose these, but it needs restoration or replacement, if it is to be used safely.
A winter view of this barn is also available on my Postcards from Kansas photoblog.
