The title doesn’t really tell the true story here. The mantis didn’t seem the least bit intimidated by Milo (a neighbor’s cat who pretty much lives at our house). As I was photographing the mantis the old cat just walked over, plopped down behind it, and fell asleep. (He follows us everwhere.) A bit after taking this picture my movements startled the insect and it ran to hide beside the cat. Milo seemed a little annoyed by the attention, but did his best to ignore it. He soon went back to sleep.
