Dave, this image reminds me that our ancestors rest year round, not just in the glorious spring weather of Memorial Day. The austerity of the cemetery in winter snow is symbolic of the end, of life, of the year. The snow edits the visual distraction and helps distill the meaning of the image. The spare touches of red gives a sanguine sense of mortality. There is an art term for this monochromatic image with one other color but I cannot remember it now.
