Lyon County, Kansas – The play of light in fine-textured seed heads drew me to this spot. From a distance it looked like a vapor was suspended above the weed patch, so much so that I expected to find a pool of water in the center.

Lyon County, Kansas – Colors from the rising sun brought out the colors in this patch of wild prairie vegetation near Reading Lake. Summer heat has scorched much of the color from the landscape, but it still shows when backlit at dawn.
