Deer in Velvet

Road FF east off Hwy 177, Morris County, Kansas – Though it’s a little hard to see in the web verison, the deer’s antlers are still in velvet. This a beautiful drive through the Flint Hills in the Council Grove area, with small patches of woodland, rock-laced culverts, primrose, wild prairie rose, and spiderwort in bloom. These roads can be a little hard on tires. A sharp piece of chert punctured one of mine, but it was quickly repaired in an auto repair shop on the west edge of Herington.
