Chase County, Kansas – St. Anthony Cemetery – This touching combination of figures was found when we were out looking for images that fit with setting of the book “The Virgin of Small Plains” by Nancy Pickard. The work was chosen by The Kansas Center for the Book as a “Kansas Reads” project. Next month the Lawrence Public Library, in support of the project, is hosting an exhibition of Flint Hills photographs. I was invited to participate, so I was out looking for subject matter tied to the content and location of the story.
