Emporia, Kansas on 5th Street

The colors and painting of this area is really pretty, so I used it to do some experiments with light this evening. This image uses a standard HDR (high dynamic range) technique. Three exposures of the scene are made to capture light and shadow that a camera isn’t capable of catching in one exposure. Then the images are blended and tone mapped to compress the range of detail and light. It is, in some ways, closer to the way the human eye works than is standard photography.
