Thinking Green

A tiny katydid grasshopper (thanks to Roger for the ID), decked out in a jazzy translucent green paint job, enjoys his perch among wildflowers at Camp Alexander, east of Emporia, Kansas. The real-world size of the creature is roughly 1/2 inch in length. I almost missed him completely. As I was studying the wildflower I saw I iddy bitty lime-colored head, topped with an oversized set of antenna, peeking over the top of a petal. The critter was very cooperative, patiently posing while I tried to focus as the flower swayed in the breeze. I think this is a blue wild indigo wildflower.

Good reception for your photo and the green grasshopper though this might be a young katydid.
