Marion County, Kansas – These very tiny flowers were found along the rocky side of a country road. They’re the first country wildflowers I’ve noticed so far, and I could have easily missed them if I hadn’t been carefully searching for something interesting in the otherwise dry ground cover. The actual size of the above mix of flowers is roughly 1/2 inch across. (The superb Kansas Grasses and Wildflowers web site was used to make the identification, but I’m prone to error so please let me know if I am). After this brief green interlude it looks like we’ll return to winter for awhile.
