Shibunkins, a calico patterned breed of goldfish, raise circles of ripples as they scout the surface of the water garden. They get pretty excited that way when they see me coming. It’s the FOOD connection. I put a hand in the pond and some come up to nibble on my finger tips. Fortunately they have no teeth. Even so, a handful of food thrown their direction turns the water into a piranha-like boil.
